Senior living community puts down roots in its backyard with $23 million campus

Posted on September 13, 2018, 3:11 pm

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. (Sept. 12, 2018) — As Neil Kraay prepared to break ground on the newest senior living community in Kent County, he laughed at the joke that he was starting to build a campus he may someday call home. Kraay, the President and CEO of Grand Rapids-based Leisure Living Management, celebrated the vision for the $23 million Cascade Trails Senior Living development and its 18-acre campus that will play a key role in the aging plans of seniors in and around Cascade, Forest Hills and the Greater Grand Rapids area. “This is a day we’ve been waiting on and been excited for,” said Kraay, noting he lives nearby. “This is in our backyard, in our hometown and we believe this will be a wonderful campus to enjoy the outdoors and the security of a new home.” Cascade Trails is unique among senior living communities with options that include 54 independent living apartments, six townhome-style condominiums and 44 apartments for assisted living and Leisure Living’s nationally recognized Moments Memory Care program. The community, at 1225 Spaulding Ave. SE, will provide premier senior living and care for residents who require different levels of support. Residents will be able to transition between living spaces as their health needs require. Those living at the center will have access to daily meals, multiple activity spaces and a complete set of amenities and assistance. Cascade Trails, which connects to miles of trails for hiking and biking and is near the Forest Hills business district’s […]

Leisure Living Management Receives a trademark; Moments Memory Care™

Posted on October 5, 2017, 5:51 pm

Four years ago, the Leisure Living Management operations team designed Moments Memory Care™, our specialized memory care service for those experiencing memory loss, Alzheimer’s or others forms of dementia.   After searching for the best memory programs, LLM found gaps in available training and care programs. So we decided to create our own based on the latest research. Moments Memory Care™ is specifically tailored to meeting the complex needs of the staff, family and residents needs. This program balances physical care and emotional needs of the residents and their loved ones.   Each Moments Memory Care™ apartment provides enough space for residents to feel like they have a space of their own, a neighborhood feel that encourages movement and walking, assistance with personal care needs, medication administration, housekeeping, maintenance, meals and snacks, personal laundry services, life enrichment activities, and much more.   Now officially trademarked, Moments Memory Care™ is offered at most Leisure Living Management communities. This trademark vindicates all of the hard work and time it took to research and implement the best, first class Memory Care program for residents, family members and staff. Dedicated to providing the best possible care, the Moments Memory Care™ program will continue to evolve with the newest research to best meet the needs of staff, residents and family members change.   Read more about our Moments Memory Care program.

Leisure Living Management goes to the Horse Barn

Posted on September 7, 2017, 7:16 pm

In August, Stonegate Village Assisted Living took five seniors to a local barn in Sanilac County for horseback rides. Knowing a handful residents were itching to get back in the saddle, Rochelle Lyons organized an outing to the local horse barn with the help of members from the Sanilac County Sheriff Posse and the Sanilac County 4-H Therapeutic Riding Program. The barn filled with laughter as each resident took their turn riding a horse. One of the Stonegate Village Assisted Living residents’ last time on a horse was 90 years ago! Thank you to Rochelle and the team at Stonegate Village for being a great example of living each day with purpose! Stonegate Village’s trip to the barn is a perfect example of how passionate our communities are about providing the best care possible for each resident and helping them live a joy-filled life.
